More about Nyree

Nyree Roy is a contemporary Canadian artist whose work explores presence and the emotional life of the natural world.

Working primarily with animals, florals, and symbolic forms, she approaches painting as both a visual and contemplative practice. Guided by a lifelong interest in philosophy, psychology, and inner awareness, Roy’s work seeks to express what is often felt rather than seen- quiet intelligence, tenderness, and strength.

She often works on multiple paintings at once, allowing contrasting energies to inform one another: one for depth, one for joy. The interplay between these states is grounding and central to her practice.

Nyree's studio filled with colourful paintings, including portraits of animals and abstract scenes, and Nyree herself, surrounded by her artwork and her dog.

History

To understand the art is to visualize it. Nyree presented such opportunities through exhibitions in local and larger galleries, as well as through publications and media for North American artists. Supporting the arts and the community around it, Nyree has involved herself in the industry or the arts through various experiences.
